(Hinata x Reader) Mermaids and Fortunes

It was 8 PM and you were currently sitting with your best friend to your left, his sister to your right. The orange haired siblings were both quietly watching the classic movie The Little Mermaid with you. Hinata's parents went out, leaving you and Hinata to look after the hyperactive little Natsu. After her two hours of running around, you had finally tired her out and convinced her to sit down and watch the movie. You had already eaten dinner consisting of Chinese takeout, and Natsu sat hoarding all the fortune cookies, claiming they would bring her good fortune. Despite Hinata's feeble attempts at getting her to release possession of them, she never did.

"Here onii-chan hold my cookies! You take some too onee-chan!" the little one said shoving the cookies into your hands as she ran to go dance and sing along with the song "Kiss the Girl"

You giddily go join Natsu, this being one of your personal favorite songs in the movie as well. Natsu joins hands with you as you twist and twirl to the beautiful melody, singing along.

"There you see her
Sitting there across the way
She don't got a lot to say
But there's something about her
And you don't know why
But you're dying to try
You wanna kiss the girl"

All the older orange haired boy can do is laugh as his little sister and best friend sing along to the Disney tune. Looking down at the fortune cookies in his lap he figures Natsu won't notice if he takes one. Opening the plastic wrapping he cracks the cookie to reveal the little slip of white paper.

"Sha la la la la la
My oh my
Look like the boy too shy
Ain't gonna kiss the girl
Sha la la la la la
Ain't that sad?
Ain't it a shame?
Too bad, he gonna miss the girl"

Reading the paper his face flushes a bit, and begins to heat up.

Confess to the one you love. Your love is precious and not everyone deserves to have it, it should only be reserved for those who return it.

Glancing up at you dancing with his little sister, grinning and giggling, he knows it's now or never. The fortune cookie said so.

"Now's your moment
Floating in a blue lagoon
Boy you better do it soon
No time will be better
She don't say a word
And she won't say a word
Until you kiss the girl"

Truth be told, he was in love with you. The head over heels kind. The kind where you would do anything, anything, that person asked without hesitation. He had only realized his feelings for you of recent, but when he did, he knew they were real.

"Sha la la la la la

Ain't that sad?
Ain't it a shame?"

He couldn't just confess. What if you didn't return his feelings? What if you laughed at him? Or even worse,

What if you stopped being friends with him?

"Too bad, he gonna miss the girl

Don't be scared
You got the mood prepared
Go on and kiss the girl
Sha la la la la la
Don't stop now
Don't try to hide it how
You want to kiss the girl"

Natsu released your hands and allowed you to walk over to Hinata, who was still a blushing mess.

"C'mon!" you say "The songs almost over! Just dance for a little bit! Natsu really wants you to join us." you smile outstretching your hand for him to take

Then suddenly,

He was kissing you.

It was quick, and definitely sloppy. Hinata had caused your teeth to bump against his with the sudden momentum and you stumbled, almost falling back against the floor.

"Onii-chan kissed the girl!" Natsu shrieked excitedly

"I-I'm only doing what the fortune cookie said!" Hinata stuttered out "Who am I stand in the way of fate?" he spoke euphorically with a stupid grin plastered over his face

You still stand there blushing and unable to look him in the eye. "Hinata..."

"I-I like you (y/n)-chan!" he near shouts with something sounding akin to confidence

You simply answered his question with a kiss.

"Onee-chan are you a mermaid?" Natsu asked with a pure childish look of excitement on her face
